Compare Latin zīzyphus (“jujube tree”) for the tree sense and zīzyphum (“jujube fruit”), alongside zizufum, zizuphum and zizuphon, for the fruit sense. The Latin forms are borrowed from Ancient Greek ζίζυφον (zízuphon, “jujube tree”), of uncertain origin.\nCompare English jujube, German Jujube, Czech jujuba, Polish jujuba, Portuguese jujuba, Romanian jujubă and Russian ююба (jujuba, “jujube”), related forms belonging to the same Latin–Romance word family.",

Compare Latin zīzyphus (“jujube tree”) for the tree sense and zīzyphum (“jujube fruit”), alongside zizufum, zizuphum and zizuphon, for the fruit sense. The Latin forms are borrowed from Ancient Greek ζίζυφον (zízuphon, “jujube tree”), of uncertain origin.\nCompare English jujube, German Jujube, Czech jujuba, Polish jujuba, Portuguese jujuba, Romanian jujubă and Russian ююба (jujuba, “jujube”), related forms belonging to the same Latin–Romance word family.",
